Storyboards from Color of My Voice
In October 2022, I joined The Color of My Voice, a non-profit animation organization dedicated to narrating stories of overcoming racial discrimination, as a storyboard artist. Pictured on the left is the initial story I collaborated on, crafted using Storyboarder.
The ethos of The Color of My Voice revolves around leveraging hand choreography and simple animations to heighten empathy for the narrator. In the creation of this narrative, I partnered with another storyboard artist. My primary focus involved ensuring the clarity of hand poses and cultivating visual themes to more effectively convey the underlying ideas.
"Shotgun Jimmy" Thumbnails from LightBoxExpo Animatic Storyboard Challenge
During the 2021 LightBoxExpo, Sergio Paez led an Animatic Storyboard Challenge, providing the "Shotgun Jimmy" script. Participants were tasked with storyboarding and creating an animatic for the second page of the script, depicting Jimmy's escape from the police and his discovery of an alien wreckage before being mysteriously teleported away. Regrettably, I could only progress to the thumbnail stage of the challenge. This endeavor marked my inaugural focus on incorporating film techniques, including pans and zooms, within the context of storyboarding.
Comics
Communications Log 5823
This comic emerged from a desire to craft a sci-fi slice-of-life narrative, a genre combination I have seldom encountered. It follows the main character as she goes about her daily chores, using her communication log to convey an optimistic perspective to her absent father.
There is a heavy emphasis on environmental storytelling, utilizing the surroundings to offer a glimpse into the intricacies of this future world. The characters refrain from explicitly explaining their familiar environment, allowing readers to immerse themselves in the narrative.
Additionally, I sought to to create a humorous effect by juxtaposing the content of the communication log with the visuals in the panels.

Till the End

The Truth
Webtoon Canvas Comics
"Till the End" is a sci-fi narrative chronicling the adventures of two friends navigating the cosmos as the universe nears its end. In contrast, "The Truth" delves into the gripping tale of a man stranded on an island with a mass murderer.
These stories originated as short stories written by me before undergoing adaptation into the comics. The selection of these particular stories was guided by their rich visual potential, with "Till the End" standing out for its diverse planetary and celestial settings. The journey of translating these narratives into visual storytelling was a fun experience, introducing elements of creativity and problem-solving beyond the scope of the initial written form.
